Our story begins with John de Courcy and his knights and it takes us to Kirkistown Castle, a fine example of the tower houses which are located all along the coast of County Down and around Strangford Lough. From there we travel to Kearney historical village, a National Trust property and film setting for My Mother and Other Strangers. You will enjoy learning about the notable ‘characters’ who lived there through the centuries. You will see romantic Quintin Castle which is one of the few Anglo-Norman castles still lived in today and hear stories of its colourful past. Filming for Game of Thrones took place along this coastal stretch. Our final destination will be the pretty, picturesque town of Portaferry which also has a castle. You will hear stories of key people who shaped the history of Portaferry through the centuries.
